CHARLESTON – Cameron Zuliani was high point for the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc track and field team at the 13-team Laidley Field Invitational this past Friday.

She also took third in the 300-meter hurdles (18.05) and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.30).

The Lady Bucs won the team title with 127 points despite not having entries for three events.

“We still had two major point earners that were unable to compete, so this was definitely a strategic team win” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jackie Zuliani. “I put girls in some different events to maximize points and they showed great teamwork and competed hard to score those points for the win. We only took 12 girls and look what they were able to accomplish. We won a state championship one year with only eight girls. I tell the team. It’s not about quantity, it’s about quality. Make the most out of what you have. If you do, you can have a successful season.”

Charleston Catholic was second with 108 points while Shady Spring checked in third place with 66 points.

The 4x800-meter relay team took runner-up honors for the Lady Bucs as the quartet of Allison Andrew, Jessica Williams, Miah Reger, and Ashley Catlin took second with a time of 11;25.47.
