Zuliani and Bennett excel at WV LSC Short Course Championships

HUNTINGTON – Two RAYS swimmers – Preston Bennett and Cameron Zuliani – competed in the 2019 WV LSC Short Course Championships recently at the Cam Henderson Center on the campus of Marshall University.

Bennett finished second overall in the 13-14 year-old boys division with 55 overall points while Zuliani placed 11th in the 13-14 year-old girls division with 17 points.

Bennett finished second in a quartet of events -- the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:45.93, the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:52.68, the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.48 and the 200-yard backstroke with a clocking of 2:14.23.

He also finished third in the 500-yard freestyle (5:25.68) and the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:11.28) fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.27) and the 200-yard IM (2:17.95), sixth in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:04.85, seventh in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.23.

Bennett swam a total of 14 races totaling more than 5,000 yards and had personal best times in all 14 swims.

Zuliani earned a pair of thirds and one fourth, limiting her total number of swims as she prepares for the Buckhannon-Upshur track and field season.

She took thirds in the 100-yard butterfly (1:02.05) and the 50-yard free style (25.59) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:14.03).
