WVWC’s Pineault hits NCAA provisional mark at Duke Invite

DURHAM (NC) — West Virginia Wesleyan track and field athlete Sydney Pineault had a historic weekend at the Duke University Invite last weekend.

Pineault broke her second school record of the year running a 10:37.98 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase.

That time bested her previous mark in the event of 10:43, and also eclipsed the NCAA provisional mark by 23 seconds.

Sydney currently sits eight in all of Division-II in her event, with the top 20 competitors at the end of the year making the national championships.

The NCAA  D-II Championships are May 23rd to 25th in Kingsville, TX.

Prior to nationals, Wesleyan will compete in the Mountain East Conference Championships slated for Sunday, May 5 to Tuesday, May 7 at Glenville State College.

Last season, Wheeling Jesuit won the MEC Women’s championship while Wesleyan took runner-up honors.

UC won the men’s title.
