WVWC’s Arthur Assfeld named MEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week

BRIDGEPORT — Fairmont State's Courtney Deem has been named Mountain East Conference Women’s Swimmer of the Week, and West Virginia Wesleyan's Arthur Assfeld was selected as the league's Men's Swimmer of the Week.

Deem, a senior from Morgantown, W.Va., had a role in four victories for the Falcons over the weekend. She was victorious in both the 100 back (1:05.97) and the 100 fly (1:05.86), and also swam legs in victorious 400 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

Assfeld, a senior from Toul, France, had three wins in a dual against Davis & Elkins. He won the 100 fly (52.91), 50 free (21.60) and 100 free (48.24). His time in the 50 free currently ranks first in the conference so far this season. He also had the team's fastest split inthe 800 free relay (1:48.10).
