WVWC track teams fare well in WVU Mountain Classic

MORGANTOWN – The West Virginia Wesleyan track and field teams were back in action Friday at the Mountain Classic hosted by West Virginia University.

On the men's side, Ridge Dalrymple won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 56.01 and placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles running a time of 15.44.

Tanner Faulkiner finished second in the 100-meter dash, finishing with a time of 11.20.

Austin Gresser placed third in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.48 and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.75.

Justin Mcintyre ran 52.12 in the 400-meter dash, giving him a fifth-place finish in the event.

In the middle-distance events, freshman Cade Robinson ran a season-best 4:15 in the 1500 meters.

In the field events, Kenny Okoye placed second in the high jump with a final height of 1.90 meters. Okoye also placed fourth in the triple jump jumping 13.41 meters.

Chase Dotson placed fourth in the shot put, throwing an impressive 13.26 meters, and fifth in the discus at 39.67 meters.

Roman Moore threw a season-best 37.51 in the discus.

On the women's side, Faith Gandy won the 100 and 200-meter dash running 12.25 and 25.80, respectively. Maggie Kovalcik had a runner-up finish in the 100-meter with a finishing time of 12.98.

Lauren Leaman ran 15.41 and placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles. Leaman also placed second in the 400-hurdles, finishing with a time of 1:06.62.

The 4x4 team consisting of Gandy, Kovalcik, Leaman, and Caylee Painter ran to a runner-up finish running 4:04.81.

In middle distance, Tori Carr kicked her track season off with a personal best run of 5:09 in the 1500.

In the field events, Hayley Willey won the High jump (1.58 meters).  Brady Browning (2.95 meters) and Kayla Means (2.65 meters) set personal best in the pole vault.

Trisanya Mitchell placed third in triple jump leaping 10.55 meters. Mikaela Grey made the final in the discus with a last throw of 34.88 meters. Kennedy Kuhns opened up her season with a third-place finish in the javelin with a toss of 35.84.

Up next for the two track teams is the  Wesleyan Jasmine Claggett Invitational at Ross Field this Saturday.
