WVWC lacrosse drops 18-2 decision to Charleston


CHARLESTON – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat lacrosse team dropped an 18-2 road decision to the University of Charleston Golden Eagles Thursday afternoon in Mountain East Conference action.

Charleston scored five times in the first 10 minutes of action and led 9-0 before Lauren Bolen put Wesleyan on the scoreboard at the 8:13 mark.

Charleston ended the half scoring three more for a 12-1 lead at the break.

Charleston scored six unanswered goals in the second half for an 18-1 advantage.

Iris Kolenich wrapped up the scoring in the game with a goal for Wesleyan with 1:05 left to play.

Wesleyan was outshot by a 37-10 margin and trailed in free position shots by a 16-3 margin.

Wesleyan was guilty of 24 turnovers while Charleston had 13.

Charleston improved to 3-5 on the season while Wesleyan dropped to 0-5.

They will play again Sunday visiting Davis & Elkins for a 2 p.m. start.
