WVWC Acro & Tumbling Team falls in MEC semifinals to Glenville State, 257.395-248.860

FAIRMONT – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat Acro & Tumbling season came to an end in the semifinals of the Mountain East Conference Championships on Friday at Fairmont State.

The Lady ‘Cats entered the four-team tournament as the third-seed and took on second seed Glenville State Lady Pioneers.

The Lady ‘Cats dropped a 257.395-248.860 decision.

Glenville State grabbed an early lead after the compulsory event as they took it, 35.275 to 34.475.

Glenville State’s two highest scores came in the pyramid scoring a 9.7 and in the toss scoring a 9.8.

Wesleyan’s two highest scores came in the pyramid scoring a 9.55 and the toss 9.475.

The Lady Pioneers then won the acro event outscoring the Lady Bobcats 29.575 to 27.60.

Glenville State scored over a 9.25 in all three heats while the Lady Bobcats highest score came in heat one as they scored an 8.975.

That made the score 63.30 to 59.65.

Glenville State then picked up  nearly two more points after the pyramid event, earning a perfect 10.00 in the open heat, to take a 92.875-87.250 at halftime.

The Lady Bobcats managed to stay close in the toss event, but the Lady Pioneers pulled away in the tumbling event picking up over 3.500 points. West Virginia Wesleyan posted the higher team score on the night, 87.460-86.870, but it was not enough.

In the other semi-final, Fairmont State bested West Liberty, 271.875 to 221.940.

On Saturday, the Lady Falcons beat Glenville State in the championship by a 269.450 score to 257.695.

The Lady Bobcats ended the 2018-19 season with a 2-6 record.
