BUCKHANNON — Giving back and giving thanks is something the ladies of the West Virginia Professional Women of Buckhannon do regularly. The ladies group decided last month that they would conduct a community project and donate non-perishable food items to the Parish House for their Thanksgiving baskets. The ladies donated several cases of corn and beans to help the Parish House meet the demand for the baskets they will begin giving away this week.
WVPW of Buckhannon also held a fundraiser raffle and the prize was a handmade Christmas wreath donated by Sherry Sellers of Country Living Personal Care. The proceeds will benefit the ladies’ future community projects. The happy winner of the raffle was club member Mary Sue Ritter.
Upon much discussion during the Monday night meeting, the ladies decided unanimously to purchase cake mixes and icing for the Parish House’s Christmas baskets that will be given to community members in need. The club will also be adopting residents of a personal care home in Buckhannon and giving them a little extra cheer this Christmas season.
The next meeting of the WVPW Club-Buckhannon will be held on December 16 at 6 p.m. at the 88 Restaurant. For information on joining the club, please contact Jane Gibson via email at [email protected] .
