Wrestling Bucs start season ranked fourth by WVMat

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur wrestling Bucs will start their season ranked fourth in the state in Class AAA according to the WVMat.com preseason coaches’ poll.

“It’s a cool honor,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jacob Orr. “Its nice to see the recognition that I think our guys have earned. We have always trained like a championship team and had individual successes, but without a full roster in the past, we were never able to get a lot of attention as a team. It’s nice for the team to see that and see that recognition, but at the end of the day its still just a number. At the end of the day, if we don’t do what we need to do in practice and on the mat, that number won’t mean a thing.”

The Bucs checked in fourth with 69 points.

Parkersburg South was ranked first while regional rival Wheeling Park is second and Spring Mills is third.
