Wreck tears car into two pieces

BUCKHANNON — A Buckhannon man is in good condition at Ruby Memorial Hospital following a single-vehicle wreck on the Hall Road at 2:20 a.m. Sunday. George Huffman, 37, of Buckhannon, was driving a 2001 Ford Taurus when the vehicle ran off the right side of the road. Huffman lost control and struck a tree while the vehicle was sideways. The car went airborne and tumbled twice, coming to a stop with Huffman still in the driver’s seat. Sgt. Marshall Powers with the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department is the investigating officer. He was assisted by Deputy Seth Cutright. Deputies were unable to get a statement from Huffman, who was flown by Healthnet to Ruby Memorial Hospital. Upshur County EMS and local fire departments also responded.
