WEBSTER SPRINGS — William “Bill” John Stemple, 84, of Webster Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Davis Medical Center in Elkins.
He was born Nov. 29, 1932 in Webster Springs to Fritz J. and Betty Wilber Stemple. He retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service and also from Alltel Phone Company.
He proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam Era. Bill was a member of the NRA, VFW, and the American Legion and was a Christian by faith. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by his children John (wife Jill) Stemple, Susan Stemple (husband Paul) Thompson, and Karen and Tracy Stemple, from a previous marriage; brothers Robert “Bob” (wife Ionia) Stemple of Clarksburg and Richard “Dick” (wife Elizabeth) Stemple, of Phoenix, Ariz.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Dorothy “Dottie” Mollohan Stemple; and brother David Stemple.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Sam Nichols officiating.
