Wesleyan lacrosse ends year with loss to Charleston

BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan lacrosse team wrapped up their 2021 season with a 21-3 home loss to the University of Charleston Golden Eagles Sunday afternoon at Ross Field.

Iris Kolenich gave the Lady ‘Cats a 1-0 lead with a goal four minutes in, but Charleston scored the next seven for a 7-1 lead.

Makenzie Lewellyn ended the Charleston run with a goal with 5:47 showing on the first-half clock to make it a 7-2 contest.

Charleston scored two more before Victoria Sisson put in a goal with the assist going to Kolenich with 2:05 left in the half.

That made it a 9-3 game and that was the score going into the half.

Charleston shutout the Lady Bobcats in the second half by a 9-0 score.

Elishia Davis led Charleston with seven goals while McKenna Kincaid had three.

Wesleyan was outshot by a 38-10 margin.

Wesleyan was guilty of 22 turnovers while Charleston committed nine.

Charleston improved to 5-8 overall and 4-6 in the MEC.

Wesleyan closed out the year with a 0-10 record.
