MARIETTA, OH — The West Virginia Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams took the indoor track for the first time in 2019 with their opener at Marietta College.
The men came away with the team victory topping the 12-team field with 134.5 points, and the women were runners up in the 11-team field with 125 points.
On the men's side, freshman Devin Taylor won the 55-meter dash in 6.57 seconds and also picked up a victory in the 200 meter dash in 22.76.
Tre Gulley finished third in the 55-meter dash, while A.J Lazaro finished in sixth.
Ridge Dalrymple finished third in the 200 with a time of 23.66.
The men's hurdle squad of Dalrymple, Lazaro and Gresser qualified for the finals in the 55-meter hurdles.
In the final, Lazaro was third with 7.80, while Dalrympe and Gresser finished sixth and seventh respectively.
In the jumping events on the men's side, Gulley picked up a third place in the long jump, while Frankie Thomas finished third in the high jump.
Tim Friend and Chase Dotson picked up second and third place finishes in the shot put.
Friend came back hours later in the weight throw and finished third.
On the women's side, Caylee Painter started off the day in the running events and qualified for the 55-meter dash finals. Painter finished second the finals with a 7.52.
Emilee Spangler picked up a runner-up finish in the 800 with a time of 2:42.
Madison Frame earned a victory in the 3000 with an impressive last few laps.
Jordan Lynn qualified for the 55-meter hurdle final and ended up finishing second with a time 8.76.
In the jumping events, Lauren Leaman was runner up in the high jump at 1.55 meters, while Kassey Wagner and Trisanya Mitchell picked up runner-up finishes as well in the pole vault and triple jump respectively.
The two teams will be back in action next weekend when they travel to Geneva (Ohio) for the Spire Midwest Open.
