Wesleyan Acro & Tumbling team notches first win

ELKINS – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat Acro & Tumbling team won their first outing of the season with a 246.595-241.055 victory against the homestanding Davis & Elkins Senators Thursday evening at the McDonnell Center.

The Lady Bobcats opened the meet by winning the compulsory event 33.45-31.00. WVWC won the acro heat (9.05-7.10), the pyramid heat (9.60-9.00) and the toss heat (9.50-9.30).

Wesleyan won the acro heat 27.45-25.35.

Kayla Wade, Sydney McKinnon, Abigail Bowe and Emily Dengel won the 5 element heat 9.60-8.60. The 6 element team of McKinnon, Megan Miles, Kaelin Withrow, and caller Talia Cooper won 8.75-8.45 and the 7 element team of Miles, Cheyanne Rowden, Joniah Howell and caller Jessica Gardner won 9.10-8.30.

Although the Lady Bobcats won the synchronized pyramid heat 8.95-8.80, the Senators took the pyramid event 28.15-26.85. Wesleyan held an 87.75-84.50 lead at the intermission.

Wesleyan controlled the toss event 25.95-24.90. The Lady Bobcats won the 450 salto heat 8.65-8.55, the synchronized heat 8.45-8.30 and the open heat 8.85-8.05.

Howell shined in the 6 element pass and won 8.725-8.325. D&E tumbled effectively and was victorious 47.625-44.025 in the tumbling event. The Bobcats owned a 0.700 lead going into the team event.

The Bobcats scored a season-high in the team event with 88.87. The Senators scored 84.03 for the team event as Wesleyan prevailed in the meet, 246.595-241.055.

WVWC Acrobatics & Tumbling returns to action for a home meet against Frostburg State on Monday at 6 p.m.
