WEST LIBERTY – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcat Acro & Tumbling team lost in their season debut to West Liberty.
The Lady Bobcats lost a 254.570-247.370 decision to the Hilltoppers.
The Lady Bobcats were slightly edged in the compulsory heats – acro (8.20-7.50), the pyramid (9.25-8.35) the toss (9.70-8.35) and the tumbling (6.85-6.80).
West Liberty held a 34.00-31.85 lead after the compulsory.
Wesleyan took two of the three acro heats, losing heat one (9.45-9.40) but rebounding to win heat two (8.95-7.90) and heat three (9.40-9.10) taking it by a 27.75-26.45 score.
Things were tight in the pyramid with West Liberty winning it by a 28.25-28.15 score.
West Liberty one heat one (inversion) by a 9.55-9.50 score and heat two (synchronized) by a 9.30-9.10 score but Wesleyan won heat 3 (open) by a 9.55-9.40 score.
West Liberty was slightly ahead at the half by an 88.70-87.75 score.
In the toss, Wesleyan took one of three events.
The lost heat one, the 450 Salto by an 8.60-8.30 score and heat two, synchronized), but an 8.70-8.05 score.
They came back to take heat three (open) by an 8.90-8.85 score.
The tumbling events saw the two teams tie in the duo pass at 8.500 to 8.5000.
West Liberty took the trio pass (8.050-7.750), the quad pass (6.850-6.750), the aerial pass (9.500-8.350), but Wesleyan won the 6 element pass (9.175-8.975) before West Liberty won the open pass (9.175-8.025).
The tumbling totals went to West Liberty by a 51.050 to 48.550 score.
Wesleyan dropped the team event by an 88.67-85.82 score.
The loss dropped Wesleyan to 0-1 on the season.
They will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 22 at home when they square off against Urbana at 1 p.m.
