Way of Holiness to host Back to School event

BUCKHANNON — One local church is doing their part to help encourage students before they return to school with a fun filled afternoon and fellowship.

The Way of Holiness Church, located at 2337 Old Weston Road, will be hosting a back-to-school event for the students of Upshur County this weekend. On Sunday, August 15 from 2 to 5 p.m. inflatables by Cartoon Headquarters, food, games and prizes will be offered at WOH for all kids to enjoy. Treat bags will also be given out to the first 100 kids.

A Micky Mouse inflatable will be available for younger kids, while other inflatables from Cartoon Headquarters such as a giant obstacle course, huge slide, and jousting/boxing ring will be offered for older kids. Carnival foods such as kettle corn, snow cones, corn dogs, funnel cakes and nacho chips will also be available to enjoy while playing carnival-style games with prizes.

During the event, Cocomelon Characters will join in the fun at 3:30 p.m. The goal of this event is reportedly to provide a fun-filled, free event for community kids and an opportunity for families to enjoy the afternoon together. Pastor Jerry and Tammy Murrell will be on site, as well as other church members, and will be available to pray with individuals and/or answer questions about the Church and programs offered.

“We would like to give special thanks to the Way of Holiness Church and the ladies at The Ruth House for their help in making this event possible,” said event coordinator Lynn Tenney. Come out and enjoy some family fun before students go back to school!
