TENNERTON — Warren Smith, 77, of Buckhannon, and a former resident of Cleveland, Ohio for 35 years, died after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at his home under the care of his family and West Virginia Hospice. He was born in Randolph County, on June 23, 1939, a son of the late Frank and Fernie Cutright Smith.
He was united in marriage on July 7, 1960, to Rachel M. Golden Smith, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Terry Smith McGuire (Kenny)(deceased), of Parma, Ohio and Lisa Smith Dotson (Rob) of Brunswick, Ohio; four grandchildren: Sarah McGuire, of Parma, Ohio, Ashley Ressler (Matt), of Weston, Ryan and Nikki Dotson, both of Brunswick, Ohio; four great-grandchildren: Alex, Danielle, Charlie and Esme; two brothers: Dean (Pattie), of Buckhannon, and Wilbert (Sandy), of Mill Creek, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Smith was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and hunt. He also loved to go bowling and enjoyed spending time with his family. He attended the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church.
Friends will be received at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel on Tuesday Jan. 17, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. Following visitation at 7 p.m. funeral services will be held with Rev. Robert Anderson and Rev. Robert Heavner officiating. The family of Warren Smith would like to invite family and friends to a memorial service at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Czar at 10:30 a.m. on April 29. This will be followed by a covered dish dinner at Brooks Hill Community Building at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in care of Sharon Shaw at 55 Pine Lane Buckhannon WVA 26201.
