Walter Edward Kelly, 90, of Lansdale, PA and formerly of Buckhannon, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2019.
Born Nov. 14, 1928 in Gypsy, WV, he was the son of the late George Russell and Pearl (Shaw) Kelly.
On Aug. 2, 1950, he married Georgia Edith Dean who preceded him in death on September 25, 2016. He will be remembered for his love for family and God, and for his wonderful sense of humor. Walter was an ordained minister, a nursing home chaplain, and a visitation minister. He enjoyed writing short stories and meditations, fishing, and playing table games with family and friends.
He is survived by his children Patricia A. Mathues and her husband, Harold, of Lansdale, PA, and Walter E. Kelly, Jr. and his wife, Lisa, of Cleveland, TN; five grandchildren, Sabrina, Christina, Scott, Daniel, and Alex; three great-grandchildren, Noah, Colton, and Charlie; brother-in law Edward Dean of Buckhannon, WV, and two sisters-in-law, Jean Kelly of Buckhannon, WV and Joanne Scruggs of Chesapeake, VA.
In addition to his parents and wife, Walter was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters: John Kelly, George Kelly, Jr., James Kelly, Betty Blades, Dorothy Tenney, and Mary Rowan.
Friends will be received on Sat., July 13, 2019 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Sand Run Baptist Church, 2272 Vegan Rd; Buckhannon, West Virginia 26201. A memorial service will follow at 11a.m. at the church with the Reverend Donald Butcher officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow in the Mount Rupert Cemetery in Buckhannon.
