BUCKHANNON — The local Buckhannon Walmart will begin offering online grocery services with curbside pickup on Wednesday. The company has implemented this service in select locations for the past few years, but it has grown increasingly more popular during the pandemic. Customers who want to stay socially distanced, as well as those who do not have much time for in-person shopping, do not live close to a store or have mobility issues, now have easier access to shopping at Walmart.
The service is free and easy to use. Customers can place their orders on the http://walmart.com website or through the Walmart app. They will begin by entering the zip code to select the chosen store and create a shopping list. Customers can use the search bar at the top of the screen to search for items directly and simply click to add them to their cart. Filters are also available for narrowing down searches to specific items or to meet special dietary needs, such as gluten free, paleo and non-dairy products. During checkout, just select a time to pick up the order.
Once a customer arrives at the store at the designated pickup time, they can park in one of the specified Online Pickup parking spaces. An associate, one of Walmart’s team of 74,000 personal shoppers, will quickly get the customer’s order and load it into the car during their designated pickup window at no extra cost.
All Walmart items are included in these pickup services. The service does not exclude frozen food or beverages, but some certain adult beverages may not be available depending on the state and local regulations. Highly trained personal shoppers carefully select the freshest produce, meats and other items each customer requested. While the assortment varies depending on where the customer chooses to pick up their order, there are more than 160,000 items from Walmart’s food, consumables and general merchandise assortment such as groceries, everyday essentials, toys and electronics available.
“Walmart is serving customers in ways that no one else can. With Online Pickup, the retailer is leveraging new technology and connecting all the parts of the business into a single seamless shopping experience: great stores, easy pickup, and apps and websites that are simple to use,” said Greg Foran, president and CEO, Walmart U.S.
