Volleyball Little Lady Bucs to get season underway Wednesday

TENNERTON – With both the varsity and junior varsity teams returning several players, the outlook is bright for the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs in the 2019 volleyball campaign.

New head coach Sheena Westfall has six varsity returnees on her 10-player roster, along with four players up from last year’s jayvee unit.

Jayvee coach Carrie Egress welcomed four veterans back. She added six sixth graders to fill out her 10-player squad.

The varsity returnees are eighth graders Kendall Bohnsack, Kendall Defibaugh, Hodgenay Henderson, Abbie Hurst, and Grace Snider. Seventh graders Alyssa Abel, Elly Jeran, Ella McNeish and Riley Vincent moved up from the JV team.

Jayvee returnees are seventh graders Quinn Burnside, Maggie Ketterman, Ava Lantz and Emmalea Lipps, and the new sixth graders are Tori Hagerich, Sophie Lantz, Reagan Mason, Bailey Radabaugh, Skylee Ringer and Raylynn Vaughn.

“There is much potential with the group we have,” Westfall said. “I am asking a lot of the girls, and they have been able to do what is asked. I have several girls who I think will be key contributors for us.”

The Little Lady Bucs will get the season under way Wednesday, traveling to Morgantown to face Mountaineer Middle.

The Jayvees will play at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity following at 6:30 p.m.
