Volleyball Lady Bucs open season with 1-1 mark


MORGANTOWN – The Buckhannon-Upshur volleyball team went 1-1 in their season-opening action last week in a tri-match with University and Clay-Battelle.

The Lady Bucs lost to University by 25-16 and 25-10 scores but were able to down Clay-Battelle by 25-16 and 25-12 scores.

The Lady Bucs recorded four aces against University with McKenzie Reynolds getting two and Meghan Bailey and Kendal Currence one each.

Caroline Frye, Tori Perkins and Currence each had two kills while Bailey led the team in assists with eight and Frye and Reynolds paced the team in digs with five each.

Against Clay-Battelle the Lady Bucs served up eight aces with Reynolds leading the way with three.

Reynolds also had a team-high five kills while Bailey owned a team-best 14 assists.

Frye led the team in digs with six while Reynolds had the lone block of the game for the Lady Bucs.

The Lady Bucs were to have opened their home schedule this past Tuesday with Brooke and Preston.

They will visit Rachel today for a tri-outing with North Marion and Preston.
