Volleyball Lady Bucs beat Lewis County, 3-1

TENNERTON – It took four sets, but the Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc volleyball team disposed of Lewis County by a 3-1 score here Tuesday night in Big 10 Conference action.

The Lady Bucs took the first set by a 25-15 score but the Minutemaids flipped that score and beat the Lady Bucs by a 25-15 score.

The Lady Bucs held off Lewis County for a 25-18 win in the third set and then held off the Minutemaids for a 25-23 victory in the fourth set.

It was also Senior Night for the Lady Bucs as they honored their three seniors – Cara Benson, Autumn Hatfield and Kaitlyn Luterek.

“Although we struggled in the second set, it was great the see the girls get the win for the seniors (Autumn Hatfield, Kaitlyn Luterek and Cara Benson) on their Senior Night,” remarked B-U head coach Ashley Hall. “These three seniors have played an important role on this team. It's been an honor to have them as athletes, and I hope nothing but the best for their future.”

The Lady Bucs had eight aces in the contest with Abbie Vincent leading the way with three while Shelby McDaniels had two.

McKenzie Reynolds had six kills.

The Lady Bucs improved their record to 11-3.

They were slated to play University Thursday.

They will host their own invitational tournament this Saturday.

Joining the Lady Bucs in the tournament will be Fairmont Senior, Pendleton County, South Harrison, Robert C. Byrd, East Fairmont, Gilmer County, Spring Mills, North Marion, Lewis County, Shady Spring, and Petersburg.
