BUCKHANNON — On February 10, the Buckhannon-Upshur High and Middle schools were searched by the Upshur County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Marion/Harrison Interdiction Team, comprised of the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Patrol, Clarksburg Police Department K-9 Patrol and the Bridgeport Police Department k-9 Patrol. The K-9 searches at both schools were an effort to promote school safety and to combat the use/possession of drugs in our schools.
Between 2 and 8 p.m., the Upshur County Sheriff’s office, along with Marion /Harrison interdiction team also conducted a saturation patrol in Upshur County. These contacts were as follows: one driving under the influence of controlled substance, one driving while license revoked for FUI third offense (felony), one recovery of stolen vehicle, six possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine, pills, marijuana), three driving while license suspended (non-DUI), 10 expired motor vehicle inspection citations, two expired registration citations, three no insurance citations and 27 warning citations. Deputies also arrested two people on one outstanding misdemeanor warrant and two felony warrants.
Buckhannon City Police Department also conducted a joint saturation patrol within the city limits. Their totals are not included in this release.
