Upshur Co. Schools receive $100,000 grant

TENNERTON — Upshur County Schools were awarded a $100,000 grant at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, June 14. The grant was presented by West Virginia Teaching and Learning Officer Dr. Sonya White. The grant awarded aides to assist with Early Literacy.

Dr. Sonya White provided comment, “The grant you are getting tonight…I’m really excited about. We had some funds and put out a competitive grant. We had over 40 counties apply and your grant was intriguing. I am here to present to you a check for $100,000 for the placement of ECCAT aides.”

It was further noted that the ECCAT also known as Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher will be placed in first grade classrooms at Washington District Elementary School and at French Creek Elementary School.
