Upshur archers triumph at tourney

Local archers compete at the B-U 4-H Archery Invitational

BUCKHANNON — The Buckhannon-Upshur 4-H Archery Invitational Tournament welcomed young archers from all across West Virginia and nearly 2,000 visitors to Upshur County over the weekend. Many local teams and individuals enjoyed success, as they triumphed in their respective categories on January 11, 2020.

Congratulations to the Upshur County Homeschool Association’s Archery Team for the following impressive achievements: First Place Middle School Team Division (3,235), First Place Middle School Girl – Dani Shaw (287), Second Place Middle School Girl – Abilene Supers (281), First Place Middle School Boy – Clay Tenney (290), First Place Elementary Boy – Jeremy McDonald (277), Top Shot Middle School Division – Clay Tenney, Top Shot Elementary Division – Jeremy McDonald, and Clay Tenney as Top Shot for the entire tournament!

The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Team also performed well and achieved Third Place in the Middle School Division with a total score of 3,183. Leah Bennett (277) took Fifth Place individually in the Middle School Girls’ Division.

Buckhannon-Upshur High School’s Archery Team brought home a win with First Place in the High School Division as well, with a score of 3,267.  Kaylin Walton (284) earned Second Place in the High School Girls’ Division, while Elijah Bryant (287) also secured a Second Place in the High School Boys’ Division and Clint Crites (285) earned a Third-Place spot.
