BUCKHANNON — The Upshur-Buckhannon Health Department is providing “vaccine breakthrough” case updates, which tracks these cases of COVID-19 from Sunday to Saturday each week.
U-BHD reminds it is important to understand that these numbers may need to be amended occasionally because they are sometimes unable to reach the patient until a later date after posting numbers for that week. Please keep in mind that case investigations and contact tracing will remain their “top priority.”
To be considered a vaccine breakthrough, the positive COVID case falls under one of these categories:
1. Has tested or develops symptoms more than 7 days after their first dose of a two-series COVID vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna)
2. Has tested or develops symptoms any time after receiving the second dose of a two-series COVID vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna)
3. Any time after receiving the J&J COVID vaccine.
