Two undefeated teams remain atop Men’s Summer League

BUCKHANNON – Regular season games of the 2020 Upshur County Men’s Summer Basketball League presented by Harper Lumber and Building Supply continued Monday and Tuesday at Stockert Youth and Community Center’s outdoor court.  Two teams remain undefeated, KBAM Builders and Ralph’s Furniture, both with 5 wins.

Monday started off with another win for Whitey’s Supply LLC, as they were paced to victory by Harrison Walker (18 points) and Sterlin Thropp (12 points).  They defeated Gold Standard Cleaning Services 75-47.  Gold Standard was led by newcomers Alicia Lentz pouring in 14 points and JJ Johnson adding 10.

Whitey’s Supply LLC fell for the first time to Ralph’s Furniture in the second game of the night.  The contest was far closer than the score suggests with a final tally of 73-58.  Ralph’s pulled away late in the game on the shoulders of Brett Morris and Adrian Summerfield, scoring 29 and 28 respectively.  Whitey’s Supply was led by Ryan Hurst, who scored a team high on just nine baskets from the field.

The final game of the night saw Appalachian Oral Surgery Center defeat Gold Standard Cleaning Services by a score of 73-36.  Chris Prescott tallied 28 for the winning squad while Alicia Lentz (11 points) and JJ Johnson (10 points) once again led their Gold Standard squad in the tough loss.

Games continued on Tuesday evening, kicking off the night with Triple K Kustomz taking their second victory over Appalachian Mineral Title Company.  The final tally was 44-35 in favor of the young high school team, paced by a dominant 25 points from Harrison Walker.  Appalachian Mineral’s Chris Confere was a force in the paint, scoring 22 points to lead his team.

Game 2 was another competitive game, seeing KBAM Builders ultimately remain perfect on the season by beating The Social 57-46.  KBAM secured the victory on a strong low post game from Connor McCauley and Scott Trent.  McCauley led the game in scoring (22 points) and Trent was close behind with 18.  The Social had a balanced attack, with Jake Rahming and Clay Todd both scoring 12 points in the overall best game of the night.

The final game was a strong showing for the Pre Played Media squad as they defeated Appalachian Mineral Title Company 70-43.  Tyler Corder was the high scorer for the entire evening, pouring in 26 points in the win.  Appalachian Mineral was led by Angel Alejandro and Hunter Fletcher, both tallying 10 points in defeat.

The next three games on Wednesday will feature KBAM Builders matching up against a surging Pre Played Media team, followed by The Social facing off against Appalachian Oral Surgery and JesterLine battling Pre Played to wrap up the night.  Tonight will see Triple K Kustomz matchup in back to back games, as well as Ralph’s Furniture looking to remain undefeated against Triple K and Appalachian Mineral.
