BUCKHANNON — Two men were recently arrested in alleged domestic assault cases in Upshur County.
John D. Edgell, 58, of Buckhannon was arrested Dec. 31 for domestic assault, a misdemeanor, according to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk’s office. Buckhannon Police Department Lt. Doug Loudin and Cpl. Marshall O’ Connor responded to an active domestic assault on Main Street. Upon arrival they found the victim bleeding from her nose as well as a cut on the left side of her nose and she also had two black eyes. When asked what had happened, the victim stated Edgell had punched her after a verbal altercation. Edgell was walking back in the victim’s direction when the two arrived on the scene. Loudin arrested Edgell and EMS transported the victim to the hospital.
Edgell was arraigned in the Upshur County Magistrate Court where Magistrate Mike Coffman set bond at $10,000.
If convicted, Edgell faces being confined in jail for no more than a year and fined not more than $500.
Rease Moore, 33, from Buckhannon, was arrested for domestic assault Dec. 29, a misdemeanor, according to the criminal complaint in the Upshur County Magistrate Clerk’s Office. Deputy W.T. Chidester and Buckhannon Police Department Cpl. Josh Wilson made contact with the victim, she stated that Moore had become aggressive and a verbal altercation started at approximately 2 a.m. The victim then stated Moore became even more angry and allegedly struck her several times as well as broke a mirror over her head. The victim said she grabbed her cellphone to call someone at which point Moore broke her cellphone. The victim had several lacerations to her arms, head, a ripped shirt and red swollen marks on her left cheek.
Moore was arraigned in Upshur County Magistrate Court where Magistrate Mike Coffman set bond at $20,000.
If convicted, Moore faces being confined in jail no more than one year and fined no more than $500.
