Tucker Hurst shoots par as golf Bucs earn easy victory from Elkins in dual outing

ELKINS – Tucker Hurst shot par for the Buckhannon-Upshur golf Buccaneers to help lead his squad to an easy win over the Elkins Tigers this past Monday at The Elks in Big 10 Conference action.

Hurst earned low medalist honors firing a 36.

“I am so proud of Tucker and his even par 36,” said Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Westfall. “He played well with two birdies on his round. All his teammates were happy for him and this is what a team is about.”

The Bucs carded a 161 while Elkins shot a team score of 215.

B-U’s Evan Coffman and Isaac Lane earned runner-up honors with each golfer shooting a 40 with Landon Hitt checking in with a fourth-place finish with a 45.

Brayden Hamer fired a 50 for the Bucs while Bryson Bastida shot a 61.

Tanner Miller and Ivan Sanders paced Elkins with both golfers shooting a 51.

In junior varsity action, Tucker Burr fired a 54 and Jaden Westfall shot a 56 for the Bucs.

“I am proud of our players today,” remarked Westfall. “There were fast and dry conditions on a holiday, so we easily could have taken our foot off the pedal, however, we came to play.”

The win left the golf Bucs with a 14-2 record overall and a perfect 11-0 mark in the conference.

The Bucs were slated to play in Clarksburg this past Wednesday and Apple Valley on Thursday.
