Trump’s media takedown

For several years, conservative commentators have publicly complained about the biased mainstream media, with Republican politicians privately expressing their complaints. When John McCain ran in 2008, the media recognized him as a “maverick” in the primaries, but hammered him in the General Election. When Mitt Romney ran against Barack Obama in 2012, the media portrayed him as an out-of-touch millionaire that only cared about the 1 percent.

For the first time in modern politics, the president has called out the media. Last Thursday, president Donald J. Trump held a press conference, lasting over 75 minutes. Throughout the conference, he lectured and ridiculed the media. He accused them of being not only biased, but dishonest.

“I turn on the TV, open the newspapers, and I see stories of chaos,” Trump expressed to reporters. “Chaos. Yet it is the exact opposite. This administration is running like a fine-tuned machine.

“Tomorrow, they will say, ‘Donald Trump rants and raves at the press,’” he stated. “I’m not ranting and raving.

“I’m just telling you. You know, you’re dishonest people. But I’m not ranting and raving,” he continued. “I love this. I’m having a good time doing it. The public doesn’t believe you people anymore.

“The media’s trying to attack our administration because they know we are following through on the pledges that we made, and they’re not happy about it.

“Many of our nation’s reporters and folks will not tell you the truth and will not treat you with the respect you deserve,” Trump said, directing his remark to the American people. “Much of the media in Washington, D.C., along with New York, Los Angeles, in particular, speaks for the special interests and for those profiting off the obviously very, very broken system. The press has become so dishonest that if we don’t talk about it, we are doing a tremendous disservice to the American people. The press is out of control, the dishonesty is out of control.”

When calling on a CNN’s Jim Acosta, Trump belittled the news network, “I’m changing it from fake news to very fake news.” This resulted in the press breaking out into involuntary laughter.

Following the conference, the mainstream media began to throw simultaneous temper tantrums.

NBC’s Chuck Todd expressed on Twitter, “This is not a laughing matter. I’m sorry, delegitimizing the press is unAmerican.”

“Today we learned the length of the president’s fuse,” CBS’ Scott Pelley stated on the “CBS Evening News.” “[Trump] went on offence with the familiar tools that build his career: bluster, bravado, exaggeration and few loose facts.”

“President Trump, if you’re watching, you’re the president,” CNN’s Jake Tapper said. “You legitimately won the presidency. Now get to work and stop whining about it.”

Following the mainstream media’s response to his press conference, President Trump criticized them again.

“The fake news media (failing New York Times, NBC News, ABC, CBS, CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!” Trump wrote on Twitter.

It is overwhelmingly apparent that the major networks are making a massive attempt at destroying Trump’s administration. They are only predominantly reporting on stories that portray the president negatively, without focusing on any positivity.

The economy is beginning to recover. The stock market has hit record numbers. Plants and factories are returning to the United States, creating thousands of jobs. Does the mainstream media focus much attention on these newsworthy stories? No, because they are only interested in exalting liberals.

For a large portion of time, it has been apparent that the mainstream media is nothing more than the propaganda wing of the Democratic Party.
