Trio of Lady ‘Cats named to United Coaches All-Region Team

BUCKHANNON – The West Virginia Wesleyan Lady Bobcats had three players named to the United Coaches All-Region Teams for the 2018 Season.

Junior midfielder Marissa Zetty was named to the First-Team while senior midfielder Natalie Prater and Makatlyn Tucker were named to the Second-Team.

Zetty, a junior midfielder from Grindstone, Pa, scored four goals and tallied one assist during the 2018 season. She was an All-First Team selection on the Mountain East Conference squad.

Prater, a senior from Bridgeport, W.Va., was recently named the Mountain East Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year after tallying 29 points in matches this fall. Her 29 points and 1.69 points per game were a league-best, as well as her 13 assists. She also netted eight goals on the season, five of which were game-winners.

Tucker, a native of Salem, W.Va., was previously named the conference's Freshman of the Year after scoring 21 points in her first season with the Lady Bobcats. She had six goals to go with nine assists, which ranked second in the MEC.

From the MEC, Notre Dame's Maranda Melton, Charleston's Marlee Coleman and Concord's Courtney Wallace and Pilar Elias earned Third Team recognition.

The Lady Cats ended the year 13-2-6 which included a19-game unbeaten streak that ended in the third round of the NCAA Division II Tournament.

They advanced all the way to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament before falling to Bloomsburg by a 2-1 score.
