SISTERSVILLE – The Buckhannon-Upshur track and field Bucs had a strong showing in the relay events and Dash Davis brought home an individual win at the Tyler Consolidated Invitational this past Friday.
Davis easily won the discus throw with a heave of 132-03 while Ritchie County’s Brandon Bowie took second with a toss of 130-00.
The four Buckhannon-Upshur relay teams won an event while earning a pair of runner-ups and a fourth place.
The 4 x 100-meter relay foursome of Trenton Westfall, Davis, Cameron Ervin and Joseph Tomasula won their event with a time of 46.80.
The 4 x 200 meter relay quartet of Logan Bailey, Dakota Smith, Westfall and Tomasula took second with a time of 1:37.74 as did the 4 x 400-meter relay unit of Tomasula, Drew Griffith, Smith and Davis with a clocking of 3:46.76.
The 4 x 800-meter relay team of Samuel Walker, Cory Hamner, Julius Hobbs and Phillip Setterline took fourth with a time of 9:36.79.
Bailey also had a stellar day in his individual events as he earned a trio of seconds in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.01, the high jump with a leap of 5-08 and the long jump with a distance of 19-07.
Jordan Weston also picked up a second-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 41-03.50.
Three Buccaneers brought home third-place finishes with Joseph Tomasula running a time of 11.88 in the 100-meter dash, Smith a time of 54.95 in the 400-meter dash and Hobbs with a pole vault clearing of 9-06.
Davis added a fourth-place to go along with his win in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.94.
Ritchie County won the team title with 171.5 points while the Bucs were second with 96.
Williamstown was third with 92 while host Tyler Consolidated was fourth with 80 and Madonna was fifth with 36.
The Bucs were scheduled to host their weekly meet on Tuesday and will return to the track today in the Capital City Classic.
