Track and Field Little Lady Bucs win home meet

Catherine Neely of the Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Buc track and field team took first place in the shot put and the discus during their recent home meet. The Little Lady Bucs edged Elkins for the team title.

TENNERTON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Middle School Little Lady Bucs triumphed in six events and collected enough lower places May 5 to win their own invitational track and field meet.

They added a trio of runner-up finishes, four thirds and fourths, a pair of fifths and five sixths to compile 133 points. They placed in 17 of the 18 events.

Elkins was second in the eight-team meet with 129 points.

Wining events were Catherine Neely in the shot put (32-1) and in the discus (84-2), Cadence Vincent in the 400 meters (1:03.32), Dezi Pugh in the 200-meter hurdles (31.90), Chloe Cale in the long jump (14-8), and the 4 x 100-meter relay team of Cale, Reagan McVay, Pugh and Kyleigh Keener (55.27).

Finishing second were Vincent in the 800 meters (2:37.23)and in the high jump (4-8), and Jessica Williams in the 3200 meters (13:46.16). 

Coming in third were Pugh in the 100 meters (14.08) and in the high jump (4-6), the 4 x 200-meter foursome of Ava Hollen, Madison Henderson, Gracie Ketterman and Rylee Carr (2:04.73), and the 4 x 400-meter quartet of Malia Bowers, Vincent, Brianna Dalton and Hollen (4:54.45).

Picking up fourths were Cale in the 100 meters (14.15) and in the 200 meters (29.31), the 4 x 800 meter squad of Madelyn Frye, Bowers, Ashley Catlin and Dalton (12:22.60), and the shuttle hurdles group of Haley Butcher, Henderson, McVay and Ketterman (48.31).

The fifths were taken by Keener in the 200 meters (29.44), and Catlin in the 1600 meters (6:23.69).

Collecting sixths were McVay in the 100 meters (14.49), Hollen in the 400 meters (1:10.53), Catlin in the 800 meters (2:50.66), Samantha Shreve in the 3200 meters (14:46.71), and Allie Johnson in the discus (66-9).
