Top-ranked Lady Bucs coast past Liberty, 81-21


JV team evens record with win

CLARKSBURG — With games against state-ranked foes on the horizon, the top-ranked Buckhannon-Upshur girls basketball team cruised past Liberty, 81-21, Tuesday night in Big 10 Conference play.

The Lady Bucs of head coach Jeremy Maxwell improved to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in Big 10 games.

They were slated to visit Class AA, No. 2 Fairmont Senior on Thursday and remain on the road at 7:30 p.m. Saturday against Class AAA, No. 4 and sectional foe Morgantown.

All 15 players saw game action against the Lady Mountaineers on Tuesday night.

Hanna McClung netted 16 points, while Lauren Bennett added 11 and McKinley Gaudet nine to pace B-U.

The Lady Bucs also won the junior varsity contest to improve to 3-3 on the season.

Freshman McKenzie Reynolds scored 11 points, Morgan Parsons added eight and Kassidy Wilfong and Ciara Melton six each to pace B-U, which also will visit Morgantown on Saturday.
