Toothman earns low medalist; Lady Bobcats win at Fairmont

FAIRMONT – West Virginia Wesleyan’s Beverly Toothman took low medalist honors in the two-day Fairmont State Spring Invite at the Green Hills C.C. this past Monday and Tuesday.

Toothman shot a round-one best 89 and then an 86 on day two for a total of 175.

She edged out teammate Rebecca Davis who finished with runner-up honors.

Davis also shot a day-one best of 89 and then an 88 on day two to finish in a second place tie with a 177.

Concord’s Sarah Cole also finished with a 177, firing a 95 on day one and a tournament best 82 on Tuesday.

Rounding out the top five were Concord’s Katelyn Sanders with a 180 and Fairmont State’s Sydney Ball with a 183.

Toothman and Davis’ top two placements helped the Lady Bobcats win the team title with a two-day total of 739.

The Lady ‘Cats finished with a 368 on day one and fired a 371 on day two.

Concord was second in the tour-team event with a 759 while Fairmont State was third with a 767 and Davis & Elkins was fourth with an 836.

Rounding out the rest of the Wesleyan line-up was Carliegh Bolyard placing eighth with a 187, Emma Bryan taking 10th with a 200 and Gabby Sayger placing 20th with a 275.

Wesleyan will now prepare for the Mountain East Conference Spring Event at the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling on April 13 to April 15th.
