“I believe we all learned a lot as a team after this game,” remarked Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Travis Foster. “Despite the loss, we got better as a team, which is our goal day in and day out. We know we are very young and at the beginning stages of trying to turn around this program, and tonight I feel we honestly got better as a team. We learned a lot from just not giving up and staying positive. It’s safe to say we just experienced a state championship team in Morgantown.”

White led the Bucs with nine points while Sandreth tallied eight and Hurst, McCauley and Cutlip each had seven.

B-U shot just 36.4 percent hitting on 16 of their 44 field goal attempts.

They will return to action Tuesday when they host North Marion at 7:30 p.m.

“We are very hungry and excited for our next practice and our next game,” Foster stated. “We might be young but we are not scared of anyone. With our team, you can no longer show up and get away with being average. Every day we preach our motto of Hardwork + No Excuses = Success.”
