The Record Delta has an eye on the future with new design, new employees

BUCKHANNON – As you can see by today’s edition, The Record Delta has a new look and a few new employees as we look to the future to continue to serve Buckhannon and Upshur County as their one true hometown news source. We are expanding news coverage to include video, podcast, additional social media coverage, and increasing advertising opportunities with the hiring of French Creek native Elizabeth “Ona” Strother as digital sales manager. “I’m very excited about this opportunity to work at The Record Delta,” Strother said. “I’m also very excited about the opportunity to help assist you with your digital transformation.” “Call me,” Strother said. “Let me help you with your digital advertising needs.” You can find her on Facebook, call her at the office at 304-472-2800 or email her at [email protected] You can also contact her on The Record Delta’s Face-book page directly. We’ve also hired two new staff writers in Tara Kennedy and Parris Freeman. Kennedy is a goal-oriented self-starter with excellent communication skills who is ready to tell the story succinctly and with compassion. She brings a broad range of experience to the position of staff writer that will not only benefit the paper but will also benefit our readers and the community as a whole. Freeman is a communications major at West Virginia Wesleyan College with a strong desire to pursue the story wherever it goes. She is a quick learner and a ready listener. She will also be adding video reporting to The Record Delta. This is going to be a great addition to our newspaper and to readers and now viewers. Video will be available on our website at as well as on our Facebook page and Instagram page. You can also check us out on Twitter. Freeman’s first story was in regard to the new city ordinance governing parking around several areas of the college campus. She was able to dig into the story and peel the layers back to find out how both students and residents felt about the new ordinance. That’s the kind of reporting that benefits everyone in the community. The new design of The Record Delta is a sign of changing times as we keep up with new trends in newspaper print. The new look flows seamlessly from page to page making your reading experience more enjoyable and easier. We look forward to the privilege of continuing to serve you for years to come in Buckhannon and Upshur County as we have under one name or another, now The Record Delta, for more than 140 years.
