BUCKHANNON – The Buckhannon-Upshur Lady Buc tennis team won two of their final three matches of the regular season last week.
The Lady Bucs went on the road and lost to Bridgeport by a 4-3 score but came back to beat John Marshall 4-3 and wrapped up their regular season last Thursday with a 6-1 win over Lewis County.
Earning the three win against Bridgeport were Johnna Smith at No.2, Caitlyn Wendling at No. 4 and Smith and Wendling at No. 2 doubles.
In their win against John Marshall, the earned three singles wins and one doubles win.
Getting the individual wins were Smith at No. 2, Madison Wamsley at No. 3 and Wendling at No. 4
The doubles win belonged to Smith and Wendling at No. 2.
Against Lewis County, the Lady Bucs won three singles matches with Ashton Hollen winning at No. 1, Smith at No. 2 and Wendling at No. 4.
Picking up the doubles wins were Hollen and Wamsley at No. 1 and Smith and Wendling at No. 2
The Lady Bucs ended their year with a 7-7 overall mark and a 5-2 Big 10 Conference record.
They were slated to begin play Thursday in the Big 10 Conference Tournament at Robert C. Byrd but action was wiped out by the rain.
They will try again today to get the conference tournament underway.
