Tennis ‘Cats improve to 2-1 with win over Lee-McRae

BRISTOL (Tenn.) – The West Virginia Wesleyan tennis Bobcats lifted their record to 2-1 on the young season with a convincing 6-1 non-conference victory over Lee-McRae College this past Friday.

Wesleyan took two of the three doubles matches to get things started.

Charalampos Simaioforidis and Carlos Dodero defeated Hanquing Wang and Miodraf Popovic at No. 1 (6-3) and Thomas McIntosh and Lukas Laipold downed Fitzgerald Lomp and Matt Meluch at No. 3 (6-4).

The two victories in the doubles matches resulted in one point for Wesleyan.

Wesleyan won five of the six single matches contested.

Winning for the ‘Cats were Laipold at No. 1, Dodero at No. 3, Alex Lyudinovskiy at No. 4, McIntosh at No. 5 and Taylor Papworth at No. 6.

The Bobcats will have their home opener next Saturday, Feb. 29 when they host Bloomsburg University.
