BUCKHANNON – The Buckhannon-Upshur boys’ tennis team opened their season with a 1-2 mark after outings with Elkins, University and John Marshall.
They opened against Elkins at West Virginia Wesleyan and dropped a 5-2 decision.
Caden Andrick at No. 3 singles and Andrick and Grant Caden at No. 2 doubles earned the two wins for the Bucs.
B-U then faced University at Wesleyan and dropped a 7-0 decision.
They picked up their first win at John Marshall with a 6-1 victory.
The Bucs swept singles action with Cade Garrett winning at No. 1, Isaac Stankus winning at No. 2, Caden Andrick winning at No. 3 and Steven Harris winning at No. 4.
In doubles action, Garrett and Stankus at No. 1 and Andrick and Harris at No. 2 were triumphant.
The Bucs have had to fight Mother Nature early in the season as they had matches with Lincoln, Morgantown, John Marshall, Wheeling Park and Brooke wiped out.
They were slated to have a busy last week with seven matches.
The Bucs will return to the courts today when they host East Fairmont at 4 p.m.
They will visit Robert C. Byrd Tuesday for a 4 p.m. clash.
