Tennis Bucs improve to 3-0 on the season


BUCKHANNON – The Buckhannon-Upshur tennis Bucs made quick work of the Grafton Bearcats Monday in a home meet at the West Virginia Wesleyan tennis courts.

The Bucs won the outing by a 7-0 score.

The Bucs breezed through singles action not dropping a set.

Aden Pitts won at No. 1 for B-U beating Aiden Kittle, 8-0, No. 2 Caden Andrick downed Jaylen Poole, 8-0, No. 3 Hank Phillips defeated Hayden Tracey, 8-0, and No. 4 Mauricio Menendez beat Eli Kittle, 8-0.

In doubles action, Pitts and Menendez downed Aiden Kittle and Poole, 8-2 and Andrick and Phillips beat Tracey and Eli Kittle, 8-2.

At No. 3 doubles, Garrett Materne and Bailey Cleavenger won by forfeit.

“I was happy with the boys’ effort, especially in singles to win 8-0 across the board,” noted Buckhannon-Upshur head coach Jason Rock.

The win improved the Bucs to 3-0 on the season.

They will return to action today hosting Fairmont Senior.
