Tennis Bucs end season with victories over John Marshall and Lewis County

Steven Harris of the Buckhannon-Upshur Buccaneer tennis team battles against the Lewis County Minutemen last Thursday at the West Virginia Wesleyan tennis courts. The Bucs wrapped up their regular season with a 4-3 win over the Minutemen.

BUCKHANNON – The Buckhannon-Upshur tennis Buccaneers went 2-1 last week dropping a 6-1 decision to Bridgeport but coming back to knock off John Marshall by a 5-2 score and downed Lewis County by a 4-3 score.

On the road against Bridgeport, the lone win belonged to Caden Andrick who won at No. 2 singles.

The Bucs took three singles matches and two doubles matches against John Marshall.

Isaac Stankus won at No. 1, Andrick won at No. 2 and Grant Chapman won at No. 4.

Earning doubles wins were Stankus and Andrick at No. 1 and Harris and Chapman at No. 2.

In their win against Lewis County, Stankus at No. 2, Andrick at No. 3 and Harris at No. 4 were all triumphant.

The lone doubles win belonged to Andrick and Harris at No. 2.

The Bucs ended their regular season with a 7-7 overall mark and a 4-3 Big 10 Conference ledger.

They were supposed to get Big 10 Conference  Tournament action underway Thursday but it was rained out.

The Bucs will try again today to start action in the Big 10 Tournament held at Robert C. Byrd High School.
