Tenney has a goal and three assists as ‘Cats romp past Frostburg State, 6-0

BUCKHANNON – Joshua Tenney scored a goal and added three assists to help his West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcat soccer team to a convincing 6-0 romp over the visiting Frostburg State Bobcats here Wednesday evening at Culpepper Stadium.

Tenney made his presence felt in the sixth minute when he played a pass to Nike Monaselidze who found the back of the net to give Wesleyan a 1-0 lead.

Monaselidze returned the favor back to Tenney setting him up with a goal in the 28th minute as the hosts took a 2-0 advantage.

Tenney found Javier De Ona Garcia for the third score of the game just a minute later as the Bobcats upped their lead to 3-0.

Monaselidze and Tenney teamed up again for Wesleyan’s fourth goal in the 33rd minute as Monaselidze found the back of the net for a second time.

Wesleyan kept the attack going on in the first half when Sinasi Emre Deniz scored on a ball from De Ona Garcia in the 38th minute to increase the Wesleyan lead to 5-0.

The lone goal of the second half came in the 48th minute when Lauri Vasa scored after taking a pass from Luca Falconieri.

The Bobcats owned a 13-3 lead in shots-on-goal over Frostburg State and a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Wesleyan’s Jeremy Collins made three saves while Frostburg State’s Colby Nelson turned away six shots.

The ‘Cats were guilty of three fouls while Frostburg State was called for seven.

The loss dropped Frostburg State to 6-11-1 overall and 5-10-1 in the MEC.

Wesleyan improved to 11-5-1 overall and 10-4-1 in the conference.

The Bobcats will wrap up their regular season Sunday when they visit Davis & Elkins for a league outing at 3:30 p.m.
