Tennerton Lions Club makes donation to Salvation Army

BUCKHANNON — The Tennerton Lions Club donated $500 worth of food to the Buckhannon Salvation Army just before Christmas. Lions Clubs International promotes clubs in the organization to work in areas that include hunger, youth, environment and sight.

The club is a sponsor for the LEO Club at Buckhannon-Upshur High School. The LEO club is in its fourth year with Michael Meadows as the club advisor.

“We do two road clean-ups through Adopt-A-Highways on Lick Run Road and the first two miles of the Tennerton Road,” said Lion Secretary Frank Beckner.

This project is one that the club has been involved in for over ten years. The organization also pays for eye exams and glasses for those in need, within the community, at three local doctor offices.

Sometimes the need is at its peak after the holidays for food, so please remember the Salvation Army. Beckner expressed, “We are proud to say we are Lions and that WE SERVE!”
