Tennerton Lions Club announces scholarship winners, new officers

BUCKHANNON — The Tennerton Lions Club met on Monday, June 13 at North River Park for a covered dish picnic. The meeting was called to order by President Nicolas Cutright at 6:30 p.m. The Club supplied baked chicken and a baked ham for the meeting and member brought various covered dishes.

After the meal the three scholarship winners from Buckhannon-Upshur High School were introduced and asked to say a few words about themselves and their future plans. Ryhanna Louise Hines plans to attend the University of Kentucky. Amelia Kathryn Pearson plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh. Caroline Christine Frye plans to attend the University of W.Va. Each scholarship winner has been given a check for $300 and will be given a second check for $300 upon completion of their first semester classes.

The next order of business was the installation of new officers for the coming year 2022-2023. Past Council Chair Al Cox performed the installation. Past President Nicholas Cutright was installed as Membership Chair; Lion Ann Slaughter as Lions Club International Foundation (LCIF) Chair, Lion Nancy Ward as Tail Twister, Lion Bob Anderson and Lion Tamer, Lion Larry Wamsley and Edith Casto as 2-year Directors, Lion Frank Becker as Secretary/Treasurer, Lion John Haymond as 2nd VP, Lion Ann Slaughter as 3rd VP and Lion Bob Garrison as President.

In other business the Club approved one glass application. The first 2 weeks of Festival Fridays was discussed. The Club plans to do a road clean up on Saturday June 25 for our Adopt-A-Highway project. The next meeting will be held on Monday, July 11 at 6:30 p.m.
