SYCC presents Youth Champion Award

SYCC faculty and staff, along with multiple city officials gather together with Romine and her award.

BUCKHANNON — Stockert Youth and Community Center (SYCC) recently held their Family Fun Night, for the 80th West Virginia Strawberry Festival, on Tuesday, May 17. During the family focused event, SYCC Director Debora Brockleman presented the award for the 2022 Youth Champion award.

Over the years, many recipients have received this award, however someone very special was chosen for 2022. This year’s recipient was announced as Christina Romine.

Romine is the center’s custodian. She was chosen for her immense devotion to SYCC and its students and staff, while also being legally blind.

Romine knows where absolutely everything in the building is placed and if anything is broken, she can fix it. Everything Romine does is for the kids and she makes sure that every day is perfect for everyone who comes through the center. SYCC is constantly well-stocked, in immaculate condition and acts as a comfortable environment for everyone to enjoy.

Director Debora Brockleman noted, “We absolutely just love her. She keeps everything in well-working order and ensures the happiness of the children always. She is just so special and perfect!”

Congratulations Christina Romine on being named the 2022 Youth Champion!
