SUBA presents funds raised for B-U Christmas Store

ROCK CAVE — The Southern Upshur Business Association (SUBA) presented a check to the Buckhannon Upshur Christmas Store at their meeting held in the Banks District Volunteer Fire Department on Wednesday, October 6.

Unfortunately, the Christmas Store’s stock was reportedly broken into recently and over $1,000 worth of toys, meant for struggling families, were stolen. The toys were donated by all different organizations, residents and departments to support the annual charitable shopping event. With this loss, the store needed a way to start rebuilding the stockpile of toys, and fast!

The B-U Christmas Store’s biggest fundraiser, the annual dinner, was cancelled due to the pandemic back in March, so the organization got creative in finding an alternative. SUBA held a “dinnerless dinner” to help raise funds to purchase tons of toys for the store. The event reportedly raised $1,390, which was presented to Christmas Store President Rosella Jones. “God has truly blessed us with such wonderful people and so many blessings,” exclaimed a very humble Rosella.
