Stray rock strikes driver

HODGESVILLE — A Wednesday morning accident sent a 65-year-old Cairo woman to the hospital via HealthNet. Carlen Sue Huffman was reportedly traveling south on Route 20 near Hodgesville in her 2007 Dodge Caravan when a large rock fell off a dump truck traveling in the opposite direction and landed on her windshield.  According to the accident report, the rock went through the windshield and struck Huffman in the head, causing her to run off the road and strike the guard rail before coming to a stop.  

Cpl. Theron Caynor of the Upshur County Sheriff’s Department is still investigating the accident and attempting to locate the dump truck and driver. No further information on Huffman’s condition was released at this time. If you have any information about this accident, please call 304-472-1182.
