Stolen Jeep found in Texas

No arrests yet after vehicle found in Austin

BUCKHANNON — A stolen jeep belonging to local businessman Mike Ross has been located 1,300 miles away from Buckhannon.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee was reported missing Friday, Nov. 10 from Mike Ross Inc. on Morton Avenue. It was used as a personal vehicle.

Lt. Doug Loudin with the Buckhannon Police Department said the Jeep was discovered Nov. 21 in Austin, Texas.

“Some officers responded to an altercation call down there and they were given this vehicle as a description,” he said. “They went in behind the motel and found the stolen vehicle.”

Loudin said Austin authorities have been in contact with him and the Jeep does not appear to have been vandalized.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Ross said his insurance company is making arrangements to have the Jeep returned to Buckhannon.

He said he is thankful the Jeep was found but still not happy that his property was taken.

“I’ve been here a long time and never had anything taken,” he said.
