Mr. Stephen Ralph Wright, age 69 years, a resident of Moatsville, departed this life on Sunday March 1, 2020 in the comforts of his home. Death was following a period of declining health.
He was born July 5, 1950 at Buckhannon, WV, son of the late Ralph Clarence and Hazel Isabell Rowan Wright.
He is survived by his loving companion of many years, Mary Jane Skidmore of Moatsville; three daughters: Angel Wright Husk of Buckhannon, Amanda Wright of Elkins, and Myra Elizabeth Leland and husband Jarrod of Blacksburg, VA; two sisters: Susan Clark and husband Roger, and Diana Davis, all of Belington; two brothers: Erwin Wright and wife Donna of Jacobsburg, OH, and Leroy Wright and wife Ruth of Buckhannon; five grandchildren: Shelby Calain, Jack Leland, Henry Leland, Kaelyn Husk and Addisyn Husk. Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews and a whole host of friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Wanita Pitzer Wright.
Stephen graduated from John Marshal High School and was Nazarene by faith. He proudly served in the United States Army with the Military Police. He formerly worked for Bethlehem Steel #108 and Hampton Mines. He was previously employed by Arch Coal where he was a fire boss and was also a member of the UMWA. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed antique cars. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020 and again on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 8 to 10 a.m., the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jimmie E. Tallman and the Rev. Lee Williams officiating.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Morris Cemetery near Moatsville, where full military rites will be accorded by the United States Army and the American Legion Post #96 of Belington.
